happy mother’s day 2010

To all you mothers out there, Happy Mother’s Day to you. I am not a mother per say myself, other than to chihuahuas, but I do have my mother living close to me and since I work tomorrow, my hubby and I took her gift to her today. I always make something along with purchasing something. Since she and I love flowers but hate paying the price for flowers that are just going to die in a week, I made some button flowers and paper leaves along with a little tiny vase.

I strung the buttons on wire and twisted the wires tight to make them quite stiff. To make the paper leaves, I cut two matching leaves and adhered them together with a wire inside as a stem and decorated the outside with some watercolor lines, edging, and rock candy stickles. My brother also left his shot glass collection here when he moved, so I took one of his broken down liquor glasses and painted it, added some ribbon, a tag, and an antique button. It made a cute little bouquet and the best part, it won’t ever die.

Just cuteness.  I really want to make a large bouquet for my dinner table.  If anyone is interested in a tutorial on how to make them, please just leave a comment and I will make one.  Really don’t know if anyone is reading my blog yet since I am just starting, but eventually maybe.  LOL
