Mixed Media Painting :: Evening Tango

Mixed Media Painting :: Evening Tango

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season.  One of my new year’s resolutions (well not really resolutions) but goals for the year is to be a better blog writer and write more frequently even if no one is reading but to record more for myself projects I create.  Sometimes it is nice to look back on your work and remember how you were feeling when you created it or refresh your memory on a project.  I am not one for keeping my projects, so its nice to revisit them.

I made a lot of handmade items for Christmas gifts including two mixed media paintings but only happened to snap a pic of one of them.  I am quite proud of this piece.  I have done  a lot of mixed media backgrounds but had never quite did a total piece on my own.  This is actually my first one completed only by me.  I think I have started something because I really enjoyed doing them.

This was created for my brother’s girlfriend who does Argentinian Tango.  I took a photograph of her actual dancing “feet”  and printed it in black and white and the silhouette is made from black craft foam.   There of course is acrylic paints, stamping, dimensional paint, matte medium, paper, and bling.  It is 12 x 12 inches on a studio wrapped 2 inch thick frame.

  1. this is so cute. i have no artistic talent much to my dismay. in school i needed a ruler and protractor for my art class. i have ventured into some canvas pieces in a copy cat class. so, that you thought this up, and did it all, is awesome. i thought maybe the siloette was a diecut. awesome job. keep posting. people read blogs even if they never comment.

  2. Thanks so much for the comment. I was so surprised when I read it and it was not a spam comment for some medicine or shoes. Someone is reading. LOL.. I cheated a bit with the silhouette. I printed it off the computer and traced it and cut it out. Its not the easiest stuff to work with, I think next time I will make a stencil with the cricut and use Golden dimensional paste stuff.
