A Copic Marker Alternative – Twin Touch Markers

Posted by on Sep 27, 2011 in Haul, Product Review |

Like lots of you out there, I myself could not imagine paying nearly $5 for any marker, Copic or otherwise, but really wanted to get that beautiful color they give. I searched high and low for other alcohol marker alternatives and found Shinhan Twin Touch markers, made in Korea. Most places in the U.S. sell them for $2 and under each. Right now I believe there are 163 colors in total and the markers are very similar to Copic. Most places are clearancing their current stock of Twin Touch markers right now, i.e. Dick Blick and Jerry’s Art-a-rama, as Shinhan is releasing their new refillable and brush versions of their markers within the next few months.

I really did not want to wait and plan to just replace with a refillable one when my color runs out. I am quite happy with them. You can take a look in the video. The second half of the video is me coloring one of our stamps. Very comparable.

Corset Cart with Insert

Posted by on Sep 27, 2011 in Cards, featured, SVG/SCAL/SCUT, Tutorials |

I really had this card in my mind for quite some time, so I sat one evening and designed the base in Photoshop and made an SVG for Sure Cuts A Lot and am so glad I took the time because I really love it and it will make such cute cards. I have added the file for sale in the store of course along with our stamps. I have another cut I plan on making a new card with tomorrow or Tuesday. Its just the corset with no insert – a slightly different shape. I video taped my card making for you to see. Take a look.

Shopping cart programs and a winner

Posted by on Jul 12, 2010 in Giveaway, Web/Graphic Design |

Shopping cart programs, ugh…  Putting it lightly.  Free wordpress shopping cart system – Thumbs Down.  My old shopping cart hosting (which will remain nameless) – Thumbs down.  I had a semi-successful e-store for my lampwork beads and used a company who when they first started were just a 2 person business.  By the time I left them, they had employees and thousands of sites.  My website was long since designed and I had worked all the kinks out back when their support was actually helpful.  So I took a chance even though my better judgment said not to.  Now a big company, their support stinks.  If you might have noticed last week, my blog was down for a day or two.  I was in the middle of designing it and OMG errors all over the place after installing wordpress via their management software and without getting too technical regarding file permissions, they said it was not their software it was wordpress.  Well I have installed, reinstalled, and designed many blogs and know my way around wordpress and it was not wordpress.  They were completely less than helpful.  So, gone they go and I am trying again with someone else.

I really believe in not putting all your eggs in one basket and building your own web presence.  That’s what I did with my bead shop and by the end I was getting thousands of hits a month and good sales.   I never just put my toe in the water, I seem to always go all in or nothing.  Anyway…    I am trying someone new and we will see how it goes.  She seems far more helpful.  Just when someone tells you that they are a mom and pop shop, don’t believe them.  Far from it nowadays.

Anyway, for the good stuff.  Yesterday I digitally pulled the name for my 100 subscribers giveaway.  Congrats to the winner.  I am at 120 or so right now, bring on the 200’s.

100 Subscribers on YouTube!! Giveaway

Posted by on Jul 4, 2010 in Giveaway, Videos |

Finally, 100 subscribers on YouTube!  Over the last week or so, I got to 100 subscribers which is pretty cool.  Youtube doesn’t give out anything special for the milestone or anything, its just kind of a personal thing.  Anyway, I thought that it was high time to do a give away.  To qualify, you have to be a subscriber to my channel on youtube and post a comment in the comment section on the giveaway video.  Posting ends on Saturday 07/10 at 11:59 p.m. and I will draw the winner on 07/11.

Its not a huge amount of stuff or anything and I likely have some more items I will throw in but I hope you like them.  Check out the video below or click here to leave a comment to be included in the drawing.
