New Spiral Bound “Beautiful” Art Journal

Posted by on Sep 27, 2011 in featured, Mixed Media, Projects | 2 comments

About once a year my husband and I make handmade paper. We save all our mail all year round and just throw it in a basket and wait. I save it partially because I think what if I am going to need it and partly because I don’t like putting private mail in the trash, but around the time the basket (and it’s a large basket) overflows, we decide its time to make paper. For someone that does not make it that often and doesn’t have a studio dedicated to this, it can be a messy job but it is really gratifying to repurpose what would otherwise go into the landfill.

Really the only essentials that are needed are a blender, water, sponge, and some type of screen apparatus. We use Arnold Grummer’s Papermill handmolds and also what they call couch sheets to help in the drying process (although you can use felt or just a longer dry time). Our sink is large enough that we don’t need a basin or plastic tub but that is also helpful. There are a lot of great papermaking videos on youtube.

Anyway, the paper normally sits around for a while but I decided to put it to good use and cut some into half sheets and spiral bound them to make myself an art journal. The pages are incredibly sturdy (although they don’t look it). I decorated the front with some of our stamps and some corrugated cardboard and flower.

I put together a video to show you and some pictures.. I really love it and hope you will to.

Corset Cart with Insert

Posted by on Sep 27, 2011 in Cards, featured, SVG/SCAL/SCUT, Tutorials | 0 comments

I really had this card in my mind for quite some time, so I sat one evening and designed the base in Photoshop and made an SVG for Sure Cuts A Lot and am so glad I took the time because I really love it and it will make such cute cards. I have added the file for sale in the store of course along with our stamps. I have another cut I plan on making a new card with tomorrow or Tuesday. Its just the corset with no insert – a slightly different shape. I video taped my card making for you to see. Take a look.

New Vintage Digital Collage Sheets

Posted by on Jun 20, 2010 in Collage Sheets, featured, Organizing | 0 comments

I hope everyone has been having a great weekend. I haven’t had any new videos lately but I will be doing some hopefully tomorrow. We have been in the middle of an office redesign to try to give both me and my hubby more space. We both are artsy and he is okay creating in a messy space. Left to his own devices, the room would be a total disaster. I, on the other hand, go into shut down mode in a mess, so I win! LOL.. I will have to post some pics when it is finally all done.

I did get some time at nights to work on some digital collage sheets which I have wanted to do for quite some time. They are very time consuming but I can’t wait to use them in my own scrabble/glass tile jewelry and ATCs. I have three of them up for sale in my etsy and decided to add a page here. If your interested in purchasing them, please check out the link the the title bar or visit my etsy at

I can’t wait to start my next one. Take a look at some of the samples (full image page is on the collage sheet page).

Retro Small Appliances Collage Sheet
Vintage Transportation COllage Sheet

Vintage Ladies Collage Sheet #1I hope you like them.  My favorite is the vintage appliances, although I do love the ladies.  I really think they would look great colored in with Copic markers (if I only had some Copic markers, lol).  Will have to settle for my colored pencils.

I hope y’all have a wonderful week.
